This section is intended to be an initial guide that lists of all the modes and routes of travel to get to the Royal Burgh. It is not possible to provide all the timetables as they may be subject to change. Some links have been provided to assist you find the up to date details.
Travel to Jedburgh can be undertaken by public and private transport, and this section helps to define these options from regions within the UK.
Long distance travel
For international travellers the nearest ferry points are the DFDS Amsterdam (IJmuiden) to Newcastle (North Shields) and Norfolkline Zeebrugge to Rosyth.
The closest airports are Newcastle and Edinburgh. The former having a direct bus link to Jedburgh, the latter being connected by city airport bus then direct bus from Edinburgh bus station to Jedburgh.
From England there is a No. 383 National Express service between Wrexham and Edinburgh the calls into Manchester Airport, Newcastle, Newcastle Airport, and Jedburgh.
Additionally there is a Munros No.131 that runs between Newcastle and Jedburgh.
From Edinburgh there is the same once daily service by National Express No. 383 to Jedburgh.
The main services from Edinburgh are provided by Munro’s and are either the direct No.51 or the Nos.52 & 68 with a change over at St Boswells.
Local buses linking Jedburgh and Galashiels
Either direct Munro’s No.68 or Munro’s No.51 & Perrymans No.67 with a change at St Boswells
Jedburgh to Hawick or to Kelso is provided by First Bus No.20
Berwick-upon-Tweed to Jedburgh can be via a number of linked bus routes.

Carlisle to Jedburgh is linked by the First Bus X95 (Carlisle to Edinburgh) changing at Hawick with the First Bus No.20 to Jedburgh.

There are no rail links to Jedburgh, however the closest West Coast Mainline station is in Carlisle and the East Coast Mainline station is Berwick-upon-Tweed. Bus connections from Jedburgh to Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed are provided above.
The main routes into Jedburgh are as follows:
From the East of England – A1(M) to just south of Newcastle then A1 round Gateshead to A696 to Otterburn then A68 north to Jedburgh.
From Edinburgh and all points north of the west of Edinburgh – A68 from the Edinburgh City Bypass.
From the NW of England – M6 to north Carlisle then A7 to Hawick. Head east out of Hawick on the A698 to “T” junction with A68 then right on the A68 for the final 2 miles.
