Jedburgh, situated in the Scottish Borders is located midway between the cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle and is nestled between the Cheviot Hills and the expansive Tweed valley.

The area surrounding the town is ideal for walking with beautiful rolling hills, attractive riverside trails and stunning open outlooks in all directions.

Jedburgh has for many years been appreciated as a walking centre and has hosted several walking festival. It also has a well established network of circular walks as well as a town trail and it lies on or close to several long distance walking routes.

Walkers are Welcome This is also a community that is committed to offering a warm welcome to all visitors and it recognises the importance of the active visitor who wants to walk in the town and surrounding countryside. Recognising the importance of the walking visitor and the benefits of an active lifestyle for its own residents Jedburgh has been delighted to qualify and become a “Walkers Are Welcome” community, receiving this accolade in February 2011.

Launch Event - Sunday 28th August 2011
To mark the award of this accolade and the publishing of a new edition of "Path Around Jedburgh" there is to be a series of FREE guided walks both in the Town and around the neighbouring countryside. It is hoped that both locals and visitors will join in this event. For more details link to the Events Page of this website.

As part of the ongoing support and development of walking this dedicated website has been established. It is in the process of being established and presently it is incomplete, however it does provide an immediate opportunity to contact the sponsors of this initiative, this being Jedburgh Events Forum.

The sections that are presently working are Jedburgh & District, Longer Walks, Long distance paths, WAW Service Providers, Events and Contact Details.
